Production Diary of Lynx Advertisement

17th-19th December 2013
Our group had multiple ideas to begin with, and we each discovered that each idea came about with several issues; whether it be the location, cost or length of production. Our final idea came about at the very last minute, leaving us only 4 hours to complete our pre-production paperwork. Nonetheless, working as a team enabled us to complete all of our work on time, and have it uploaded onto our blogs. The storyboards took the longest amount of time, as they contain the most crucial and time consuming detail, with not only the drawings, but the information about the whereabouts and type of shot that would be taken. Upon completing our pre-production paperwork, we had to ensure that not only was it all complete to the highest of our ability, but that it was essentially uploaded onto each of the group members blogs.

7th January 2014
This was the first day of our filming. I picked up each member of the group from college, and took them to our shooting location (14 Chestnut Avenue, Lowestoft; my house). We chose this location as it was easy to access and we were allowed unlimited time to shoot there. After familiarizing ourselves with the settings we started to shoot our production. Located in the lounge, the 'slob' was covered in food wrappings whilst playing on a games console to add to the effect of him being a stereotypical male. We then started to film the second part of our advertisement, which is where the first female sprays the product; Lynx- and the guy transforms into a 'gentleman.'

8th January 2014
We finalised the second part of our advertisement, and ensured that all the settings and lighting were exactly the same as the day before, to ensure there was no or minimal continuity errors. We then took some test shots ready for the second scenario to see which angles and shot distances would've worked best with each shot and clip of footage. To enable that my group got back to college in time for their next lesson, we had to cut our time short and as a result of this, didn't get as much filming done as we would've hoped.

9th January 2014
We started to shoot the second scenario of our advertisement, which was filmed outside. Thankfully, there was no weather interruptions and so we were able to film consecutively for the full time that we were allocated. Our first initial plan was to use my car (Ford KA) for the role of the 'mechanic' to use, however we found that it was too low to the ground, and so resorted to using my dad's Land Rover. This was a lot higher off the ground and so we were able to film not only the mechanic going under and coming out from the car, but also a shot from the perspective of the 'mechanic' (which wasn't used in the final cut, nevertheless we found it extremely helpful when shooting).

10th January 2014
On the final day of shooting, we were able to, with the assistance of George and Vlad, film the final scenario of our advertisement. We did encounter some problems and issues with the lighting in this particular scenario of the advertisement, as the lesson is time-tabled later on in the day, and so it was starting to get dark outside, meaning the light in the room was limited and although there was a light fitting, it still was of a different lighting to the rest of the advertisement.
