DepicT! analysis - Candy Crime

Genre
  • The genre of this clip is somewhat comedy.
Mise en Scene
  • The overall colour theme of this DepicT! clip is the use of dark shades, such as grey and black. However, the colour of both the lollipops are highlighted via the use of pinks and oranges.
  • The setting for the clip is also very stereotypical for the type of young boys that are portrayed in the video; sitting around on someone's wall, just walking the streets. However, it is considered unusual for a little girl to be walking about, waiting for a bus and even getting onto the bus, alone.

Camera
  • The establishing shot shows great use of camera work, and really sets the scene for the beginning of the clip.
  • Via the use of WRITE THE TYPE OF SHOT HERE shot, it connotes the view that the group of guys are more powerful, and have a higher status than the little girl. She contradicts this however, as she ensures she gets something out of giving away here 'candy'; a key ring and eventually, a gun.
Sound + Narrative
  • Despite very little dialogue in the beginning of the clip, and very few words exchanged between the two main characters, this clip is silent.
  • However, there is some music placed at the end to the credits.
